Ball Packaging Europe is a subsidiary of Ball Corporation, which is one of the largest producers of cans for the beverage and food industry in the world.
Ball Corporation is listed at the New York Stock Exchange. Ball Packaging Europe has production plants in Germany, France, Netherlands, Poland, UK and Serbia.
Ancra Systems BV delivered two buffer conveyor lines for the transportation of palletized cans to the dispatch department at their facility in Serbia.
The systems consist of two sets of chain tracks comprising 5/8” triplex chains with a length of 15.5 metres, to convey pallets.
The chain conveyor system is divided into two segments of 7750mm each. At the front of the chain conveyor system a fork-lift truck stop is installed to protect the system during pallet loading by forklifts. After index loading the first segment, the whole block of pallets conveys (short side leading) to the second segment where the pallets are picked by hand pallet trucks.
The 1.05m height of the system enables unloading of the chain conveyor system at floor level for the hand pallet trucks.
The unloading station has two pneumatically rising floors to enable pallet indexing onto the unloading station.
In addition, the first chain conveyor segment is constructed in such a way that spacing between the pallets is created automatically. This makes pallet picking at the unloading station more convenient.
While our chain conveyor system is not used for automated truck loading/unloading in this project, the system is fit for the purpose of buffering pallets of varying sizes indoors.
